Alot of use slang in our writing now because we are so used to txting slang while we txt. And because almost everyone has a phone writing out a letter to someone is kinda rare to find it's mostly txting, instant txt messaging and on web sites
I feel like most people have the time but why write a letter if your just going to get a text back? I think the fact that kids dont read or write outside of their cell phone screens will be detrimental to literacy in future generations. Noah
There's a lot of abbreviations, and slang that started on the internet that carries over. Such as people using abbreviations like "lol" outside of the internet.
A lot of people type more that write now where as when computers didn't exist, everyone wrote instead of typed unless you used the typewriter. It has impacted our writing today by making it easier to write. Writers use the computer to type their books and publish them by email. No one writes as much as they used to any more. -ELM
I believe technology has both benefited and hurt our writing skills. While writing some of us slip up and use "text slang". Or we will use abbreviations. Technology helps us get used to writing and it even improves our grammar.
I agree with this, I also think in a way it is also a good thing, because we may not use as much paper. But i still enjoy reading books much more than online. E.C.
Most people don't ask, "Where is my paper and pencil? I need to write this down!!", most people would say, "Where's my computer/laptop?? I need to write this down!!". T.B.
Technology is changing the way we connect. We blog/video blog, tweet, update statuses, and text everything we have to say. We 'like' everything. Also we use WAY too many abbreviations. In this short little paragraph of sorts, I've used spell check twice.
I know that I don't care as much about my spelling anymore, because I know that the computer usually fixes it for me. Although, when you have to write something by hand, that's when you find yourself making grammatical and spelling errors.
most writing is on computers but the most important pieces of information are still printed out into book form because if you lose power somehow you still have the information. So technology is helpful when writing but something can go wrong with it. ross
Technology has affected our writing by not really writing by hand anymore and using slang words, such as using u for you and examples like that. Also I have noticed that my spelling and punctuation has become worse because spelling and grammar doesn't matter in texts and chat and such. This affects be in the classroom, because word choice and grammar is always the part on essays where I do the worse.
By being surrounded with technology ever since we were little has had a huge impact on our lives. Spell check, slang, and texting have made us more dependable.
People don't write anymore because they consider it too time consuming. It's much faster to pull out your phone and quickly type something impersonal. M.D.S
People can't spell! And the grammar these days is horrible if someone writes with pen and paper. In a way, the computer does all the work for us. Think about how the writing style has changed as we have advanced in technology. Before: State thine presence! Now: 'Sup?
Technology has impacted our lives in several ways. First, our bad grammar and spelling carries over from texting. When we use slang and abbreviations in texting or online, it can carry over to when we write. Also, some people would rather type it because they have become faster at it. -K.M.
Technology has diminished the formality in our writing, people don't bother to be polite because you would have to text more letters and words. Sometimes people try to use the text slang in everyday writing, but we shouldn't do that especially in classes. Emmy Roy
Our language(and other languages) have evolved in the last decade because the internet has given us slang and impacts our use of the language outside and off the computer and internet. -JHR
Technology has impacted our life because, without technology our writing would be having less slang and with computer we can double check our writing Taylor
We tend to use text language instead of real words. Our grammar isn't as good as it should be. But computers show if you are writing words incorrectly. And it helps us writing so we have improved in that way.
Technology has impacted our writing because we can spell check and even, to an extent, grammar check. Also, I think that the amount of plagiarism has probably gone up because now kids can just go on a website and copy and paste the information.-NS
Technology makes it much easier to save our writing pieces in one place. It also makes it easier to revise and edit because we don't have to hand write things anymore, we can just type. We can also have any information we need on the spot because we can simply look it up, we used to have to use books. Imagine that.
Technology has immensely impacted our writing. Many people do most of their writing through texts, status updates, and emails. All of those methods and many others are written using countless abbreviations, slang, and misspelling. This generation is practicing spelling words wrong. When they do need to spell something right no one turns to a dictionary they simply use spell check something convenient but un beneficial to learning how the words are spelt correctly. Basically technology has greatly effected our grammar in our writing today.
We are now able to write faster and create several copies of the material in a short amount of time. Our mistakes are now corrected for us using 'auto-correct' and our spelling abilities could have possibly deteriorated.
Technology has impacted our writing because now we barely right because it is easier to type or text. No one really sends out invitation unless they don't have Facebook, or any other website of phone. Over all technology has stepped higher to make life easier.
One way technology has impacted our writing is my our typing. We tend to use shortcuts in whatever way we can just to get it out faster. When I use my iPad, I tend to speak into the iPad so that it'll type it for me.
In a way technology has made our writing better, because of place websites that can give us synonyms, definitions, etc. and also spell check and stuff like that. It has also made it worse be because of lingo that we can use because everyone understands what we mean without using real words.
Technology has impacted my generations spelling ability. Spellcheck is used often and the writer never learns the word because the computer knows it so they don't have to. Technology has made it possible to read everyones writing because you can access terabite's of writing from your computer at your desk. This has created a more informed society, even if all of the information read is not factual. This results in people being mislead and then having to be corrected later in life by a teacher, professor, or someone actually experience in that specific field. -tb (no not tuberculosis)
I disagree. I think that the amount of information on the internet greatly benefits society. People who cant afford to go to collage can enroll in online classes for a lot less money and still learn everything the would at a physical collage. And depending on the site there is lots of useful information out there. for example you probably wont get the best info from Facebook but you will get real answers from educational websites.
Our writing has been changed in many ways. Spell and grammar check is one way it has changed. We rely less on our brains and more on the computer. Also we can just look things up now and put pieces into our writing. We also use a lot of shortened words and slang. - BS
Technology has impacted our writing in many ways, positive and negative. I think that is extremely true. Also, many paper back products are now online, we no longer have a whole book shelf on encyclopedias, almost everything in online! -FJ
Writing is easier than it has been at any time in the past, yet it is valued less too. Availability leads to depreciation; as we all are presented opportunity to express our own thoughts, writing becomes more self-centered. It is chosen to record a shopping trip instead of a particularly interesting observation. While in the dictionaries our language may grow, the set of words used constantly shrinks.
Technology has changed the way that we connect with each other. Now instead of connecting the verbally or with the written word people are always communicating with the digital word. With social media today everyone is exposed to more writing (posting or reading others posts) but it has become more relaxed so more slang is used in typical conversation. With is use of more and more slang our generation is essentially rewriting the dictionary because it is convenient for us. EA
Technology has taken over the world and has made everyday tasks much easier and simpler. However, as the use of technology has increased other uses of communication have fell. For example, hardly anyone writes hand written letters anymore, not nearly as many people talk to the person they want to communicate with face to face, and people text rather than talk to the person you are communicating with on the phone. So, technology most definitely has it's advantages and disadvantages.
Technology has allowed us yo connect faster than normal making us forsake slower forms of communication. For example, the letter, this has become a dead form of communication. The letter now is only used for formal occasions. We have created a desire for speed, and with this desire we shed all things that don't meet that desire. One such example is text slang. To save precious seconds we trade coherency for time. We drop as much as possible so we may move faster through technology. Though technology is meant to speed things up, it can be the root of the issue, making things slower. Thus making our speed obsessed generation rather tense.
I think that technology has either made a person worse or better at writing. It could be worse in ways such as using texting slang in essays, writing or in projects. Ways that technology could make writing better is that (if you improve on typing on a keyboard) we could type quicker than writing. Having the ability to access technology also means that you can easily use better, more descriptive words. Like us for instance. In our English class we look up "Words of the Day", extending our self-dictionaries. We can learn so much more using technology. Online gamers from different countries can learn other countries' languages, extending their self-dictionary. Having technology can also allow us to focus on video games or unrelated media, lessening our chances of become a better writer.
Technology has changed the way that we write in many ways. Now instead of writing letters, we log onto Facebook or our email. We pull our our cell phones and start typing away to our friends and family that we need to talk to. People obvioulsy still send letters to friends and family but it is a huge decrease in percentage than 5 years ago. Powering up your computer and logging into whatever social network you are going to communicare through is much faster than walking or driving down to the post office and sealing a envelope and mailing out the letter.
Everyone uses slangs these days because it's so much easier and quicker that saying the words. for example, it's easier to say lol than laugh out loud.
I think that technology has effected the way that we type today. Because of all of the slang we use today in texting and messaging, I think that it has people spelling not as well. Also, I think it has people depending on things like spell check for when they type on the computer. So I think that it has effected it us greatly.
It gives us access to information and prompts that could help us write better, but it also gives us the opportunity to just write and publish stories that could sound amazing in our heads, but look like a mish-mosh of random details and slang that doesn't make sense in the least.
When writing things these days people almost always use computers. They make revision easier and if you make a mistake you do not need to type the page as you did when using a typewriter. Many stories are also only published online. HP
I think technology has affected writing in many ways. People rely on spell check and auto-correct and people care less about spelling. People abbreviate words and use lots of slang. Almost everything is done using electronics these days. From instant messaging a friend to writing on your grandmothers wall to say happy birthday. Re-tweeting someones tweet about the game on tv. I don't remember the last time I received a letter from someone. I miss writing letters to my cousins and family, it was fun! But then again, it is so much easier to just send a text and it takes a lot less time.
Technology makes writing much easier for most people. It's more convenient to write on a laptop, where there is automatic spelling and grammar corrections, than write on a piece of paper.
Internet I feel has had a great impact on our daily writing. Because of internet we are able to be more informed with the subject we are discussing about. Internet is also very useful because you can find better/ more descriptive words to better you're writing also because you can have a auto correct so that can help a lot when it come to going back and revising because then theirs one less thing you have to look for.
I agree, but then again having auto-correct and spell check makes people care less about their grammar and they don't even realize they spelled something wrong because their phone corrects it for them automatically. It can weaken someones spelling skills.
Technoloagy is effecting how we right because everything is editted for you. You don't relize your mistakes as easily and you get use to using spell check.
